Prevalencia de patologías orales en pacientes portadores de prótesis totales, Clínica UCSG Semestre A-B 2017.

Abstract

Introduction: The edentulous patient are more prone to oral lesions of traumatic and nontraumatic origin. It may be for an interactions with oral structures with irritans, traumatic agents for a long time or an inadequate lifestyle results in the presence of oral pathologies. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of oral pathologies associated with the use of prostheses Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive analytical research study was carried out in 72 totally edentulous adults, who were treated in the total prosthesis clinic II of UCSG, where they were evaluated: if they presented oral pathologies, the patient´s hygiene habits using the frequency of brushing per day and the cleaning of the prosthesis, the time of edentulism, the prosthesis failures and the time of use of the same. With the data they were recorded in a mother table using Microsoft Excel software to record the results of our study. Results: The total of 72 patients with total prostheses examined in the study, only 41.66% of the cases presented a type of oral pathology, while 58.33% did not present any type of oral pathology. Discussion: the patients who presented oral pathologies were between 60 and 69 years of age equivalent to 40 % of the total simple. It is recorded that subprotesic stomatitis is equivalent to 69.99% between the ages of 60 to 70 years.
