Biblioteca Pública de Durán.

Abstract

The need to create educational and cultural spaces within a city that is constantly growing economically, socially and culturally, invites us to propose a space that integrates and fosters intellectual diversity in Durán, belonging to the province of Guayas. The purpose of the proposal is to create a space that combines active and passive dynamism through the Public Library project that integrates the public space through plazas, parks and courts, allowing the congregation of people and becoming a landmark in the city. This proposal is based on the program and requirements established by UTE "B" 2017 for the "Durán Public Library" project and the IFLA / UNESCO standards for the development o f the public library service. The conceptual idea of the project comes from looking for a representative element of the city that allows deriving it in an essential characteristic. Taking the symbolism of the railway lines of the sector as analogy manife sted in a conceptual idea of "container wagon of activities" thus giving the materiality of the project in the structure and coating with industrial character. The project is stratified by levels according to the use and compatibility of the user around a central vacuum that allows organizing the architectural program. One of the main characteristics of the project is the flexibility of the spaces giving the user the freedom to appropriate the place according to their needs.
