Percepciones de los estudiantes de una universidad ecuatoriana frente a situaciones de violencia en las relaciones de noviazgo.

Abstract

This investigation explored the perceptions of Social Work students regarding situations of violence in love relationships (dating). The research used a qualitative approach, on an exploratory level, via semistructured interviews and a focus group as a technique. Its holistic perspective attempted to understand the dynamics of love relationships (dating), to recognize the factors that generate violence, identify the coping strategies and resources on which students could count to find solutions to their situations of violence, and determine the influence of the academic formation on the situations of violence experienced by them in their love relationships. This study aspires to contribute to future investigations of the phenomenon of violence in love relationships among university students, in order to prevent it, and to stimulate the creation of support nets within the universities, wherein those students at risk could find an adequate space to talk about the coercion and abuse they may be experiencing.
