| dc.description | Introducción: la estigmatización y discriminación a las personas viviendo con VIH/SIDA por parte de los profesionales de la salud sigue siendo uno de los principales problemas en el acceso y calidad de la atención médica. La imagen negativa de la enfermedad se ha mantenido a pesar de los importantes avances en el tratamiento y mejora en la calidad de vida de los pacientes. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional, prospectivo, transversal y analítico mediante encuestas a personal del Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo, con el objetivo de determinar el conocimiento sobre el contagio y bioseguridad de VIH/SIDA y si este influye en la toma de decisiones con respecto al manejo de los pacientes. Resultados: se determinó que existe falta de conocimiento sobre el contagio, manifestándose como estigma por parte de los profesionales. Conclusión: consideramos que con la correcta capacitación y adiestramiento sobre accidentes laborales y VIH/SIDA, se podría erradicar la problemática mencionada. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV / AIDS by health professionals continues to be one of the main problems in access to and quality of medical care. The negative image of this disease has been maintained despite important advances in treatment and improvement in the quality of life of patients. Materials and methods: an observational, prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study was carried out by means of surveys to personnel of the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital, with the aim of determine whether knowledge about the contagion and biosecurity of HIV / AIDS influences decision-making process regarding to the management of these patients. Results: it was determined that there is a lack of knowledge about the contagion, manifesting itself as stigma on the part of the professionals. Conclusion: we believe that with the correct training and education on workplace accidents and HIV / AIDS, this problem could be eradicated. | en_US |
