Violencia contra las mujeres : historias silenciadas en Latacunga y Milán.

Abstract

The present research work on violence against women: silenced stories in Latacunga and Milan. It is a qualitative study of six cases: three in the city of Latacunga, Ecuador and three in the city of Milan Italy. Three in-depth interviews were conducted with each of the women victims of violence. Through the results, it was known that the six women witnessed and were victims of violence in their families of origin and in the confirmation of their own homes, in the narratives the women describe the types of violence they lived and silenced for years, all this constituted by patriarchy, beliefs and the exercise of power that has sustained the violence perpetrated. the fear and lack of support generated by the high risk of which women in these two countries were victims was evident. Physical, psychological and sexual violence was presented as part of life, caused in the victims discrimination and suffering and gender inequality, preventing women from being empowered with their capacity and skill, in the social environment in which they develop.
