Abstract

Introduction: PEEK has been recognized as a high-performance polymer in dental, medical and engineering applications due to its favorable mechanical and chemical properties. Objective: Establish the effectiveness of Peek use as an alternative in patients allergic to metal alloys. Materials and methods: it has a qualitative approach. Additionally, it is retrospective and transversal. Together, it is of descriptive design because the importance of the use of Peek as an alternative in patients suffering from allergies to metal alloys will be represented. Analysis and discussion of results: this material has many favorable properties, such as its modulus of elasticity, resistance to high temperatures, its great biocompatibility, which makes it an excellent substitute for metal, and it is also possible to use it with new technologies. Important for the patient in terms of aesthetics. Conclusion: the use of PEEK, as a material in fixed and removable prostheses or in implantology, should be mostly used, since thanks to the modifications that are currently being made, it stands out as a great treatment option in patients allergic to metal.
