Estudio de riesgo sísmico, evaluación y rehabilitación del edificio del Aula Magna de la Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The following document presents the development of the investigation in which the building of Aula Magna of Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil has been evaluated considering its structural characteristics, this in order to determine if the structure is suitable to support the loads produced by design earthquakes and their effects, as stipulated by the Norma Ecuatoriana de la Construcción in its 2015 edition, the main reason why this evaluation is carried out is because the building has more than 50 years of life since its foundation and this was designed and conceived with codes and/or standards that used criteria that have been improving over the years, for this reason these structures must be subjected to this type of study that helps to rule out any problem that they may present. and in case of doing so, an optimal mechanism could be proposed for its necessary rehabilitation or reinforcement. The information collected to make this study possible was collected from the existing information, which was very scarce, a survey was also carried out on the site in order to identify and obtain the dimension of all the structural elements and their disposition. The criteria used for this study are the criteria defined in the NECSE-RE, this helped define the desired level of performance for the established earthquakes and check if it complied with the drift limits established by the NEC-SE-RE.
