Análisis de la anatomía de conductos de premolares superiores mediante tomografías obtenidas de la clínica de posgrado de endodoncia de la UCSG.

Abstract

Introduction: Endodontic treatment is a clinical procedure full of details and principles that need to be achieved to be successful, one of the most relevant is to know the internal and external anatomy of the teeth; for this, didactic techniques such as computed tomography that provides images with high sharpness, precision and resolution can be used, using it, you can observe the anatomy, curvature of the roots, number of ducts and abnormalities of them. Objective: To analyze the anatomy of upper premolar ducts by tomography obtained from the UCSG postgraduate endodontic clinic. Materials and Methods: A retrospective and cross-sectional study was carried out with a descriptive, analytical, observational and non-experimental design. In which 1500 tomography scans were obtained where 306 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: There is a high prevalence of the number of roots in the upper first premolars being birradicular with 41.67%, presenting biconduntos with 36.76% and in the anatomical configuration according to Vertucci being type IV with 35.50%. While, in the upper second premolars, its high prevalence of the number of roots is uniradicular with 49.54%, presenting uniconduct with 46%35 and in the anatomical configuration according to Vertucci being type I 45.66%. Conclusions: The present study has made it possible to establish the prevalence of the number of roots, number of ducts, anatomical configuration, untreated ducts in the upper premolars according to the analysis of the CT scans obtained from the UCSG Postgraduate Clinic.
