Abstract

The industrial revolution and the growth of the business sector have left negative consequences on the environment. In the Ecuadorian Constitution and other regulatory bodies, articles have been incorporated for some years now that seek to limit the actions of companies in order to protect both the rights of nature and the environment, as well as the human rights recognized by the country. However, we still find alarming situations and scenarios regarding the environmental awareness and responsibility of the business sector. The present work has as a general objective to identify the different legal obligations that companies in Ecuador have for the protection and respect of the environment, once summarized, it will be analyzed if they are sufficient, concrete and effective and, if so, if the competent authorities promote, control and pursue compliance with these obligations.
