Abstract

The objective of this degree work is to define the state of current research development of boys and girls in institutional care with a history of being homeless, in public and private institutions in the Andean region, in the period 2018-2022. The reason for carrying out this study is due to the vulnerability that children and adolescents suffer at this stage of their lives, especially when they are separated from their families who are supposed to be their safe place. To achieve this, a qualitative approach methodology was developed, with a hermeneutic method, a descriptive level, and a documentary type. Through a documentary review of documents on this institutional care of the countries of the Andean region, it was obtained that throughout this region the protection system for children and adolescents must be improved, that all cases must be considered in a special way and that Institutional care should be the last option, since it generates several consequences on the normal development and well-being of these boys and girls.
