Análisis de la evolución histórica del mercado de valores en Ecuador.

Abstract

This essay analyzes the historical evolution of the equity market in the Quito and Guayaquil Stock Exchange during the period 2012-2022. The study is based on a detailed analysis of the trends, significant events, and economic and political factors that have influenced this market. The results of the study show that the equity market in Ecuador has experienced significant growth in the past ten years. The number of companies listed on the stock exchange has increased from 100 to 150, the volume of trading has grown from $ 1.5 billion to $ 4 billion, and the market liquidity has improved. This growth has been driven by a number of factors, including the improvement of the regulation of the stock market, the growing awareness of companies about the benefits of listing on the stock exchange, and the search for new sources of financing by companies. However, the study also identifies a number of challenges facing the equity market in Ecuador. These challenges include the low participation of retail investors, the lack of diversification of the market, and the vulnerability to international financial crises. The study concludes that the equity market in Ecuador has a great potential for growth. However, to reach its full potential, the market must address the challenges identified.
