Abstract

This research work will analyze the legal regulation of labor contracts and image rights of professional soccer players in Ecuador in order to guarantee fair remuneration and the protection of their income. In Ecuadorian sports law, there is more than one problem that affects the regulation of labor contracts and exploitation of the image rights of players. Having legislation that looks after the interest of workers, a change has not yet been achieved that ensures professional footballers the scope of equitable compensation for their work and for the rights that their image represents. The unexplored field between the salary for the provision of services and the income derived from the commercial exploitation of their image generates legal disputes and latent disadvantages in labor matters and contractual clauses. This research suggests the need for legislation that clearly distinguishes between both types of remuneration and regulates their equitable distribution, seeking to protect the labor rights of soccer players and guarantee their economic well-being.
