Abstract

This study examines the principle of equality in the context of violence against women and the family unit in Ecuador. Despite having a legal framework aligned with international standards, there remains a significant gap between legislation and its implementation. Factors such as lack of resources, inconsistent interpretations of the family unit concept, and barriers to accessing justice hinder the effective protection of victims. Structural challenges in the justice system are identified, and solutions are proposed to strengthen public policies and ensure a comprehensive response to gender-based violence.
