Prevalencia del riesgo nutricional en pacientes de Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos mediante la herramienta NUTRIC Score en el Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo durante el periodo de enero a junio del año 2025.

Abstract

Introduction: The nutritional status of a critically ill patient in the ICU is of vital importance because they often develop malnutrition as their requirements are not met. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of nutritional risk using the NUTRIC Score tool in adult patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital during the year 2025. Methodology: The present study had a quantitative, observational, descriptive, and retrospective approach. The population was composed of 340 patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital. A sample was formed, which, after meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, totaled 104 patients. Results: A prevalence of 29.8% of patients with high nutritional risk was evidenced, while 70.2% had low nutritional risk. Conclusions: The research demonstrated that the implementation of a nutritional screening is fundamental, as this allows for determining the severity of the patient's nutritional status and indicating immediate nutritional support.
