Abstract

In Ecuador, inequality in access to training and support for entrepreneurship remains a reality that disproportionately affects low-income women. The objective of this research is to propose the creation of a foundation that provides entrepreneurship training to low-income women in the General Villamil canton (Playas), with the aim of encouraging them to start their own businesses, earn their own income, and improve their economic independence and quality of life, since the lack of training and guidance opportunities in entrepreneurship is evident, preventing their economic and social development. Some of these women depend on their partners’ salaries or on low-paying jobs; their income is unstable, preventing them from feeling secure enough to grow, and yet they still shoulder family responsibilities that make it difficult to hold a good job or even pursue courses or a degree. The study was conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Interviews were conducted with entrepreneurs and organization founders, and surveys were administered to women in the sector. The results show that most of the women are of productive age, and it is determined that establishing a foundation dedicated to women’s entrepreneurship is a feasible idea that fosters economic independence and strengthens productive skills. The financial viability of the proposal is demonstrated by a net present value (NPV) of 15,594.84 and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 21%; the initial investment required is 14,199.97, which confirms the project’s profitability.
