Abstract

This project presents the creation of a 2D animated short film designed to raise public awareness regarding the vital importance of feline sterilization in Guayaquil. The proposal emerges from an urgent necessity to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent the widespread abandonment of cats caused by unplanned reproduction. Through a brief and deeply emotional narrative, the short film establishes a powerful connection with the audience by using the intentional application of color, cinematic lighting, and the unique expressive resources inherent to animation. The project is grounded in extensive research concerning animal welfare and the various benefits and consequences of feline sterilization. Consequently, the use of an animated short film is proposed as an accessible and highly meaningful medium to foster critical reflection on the responsible care of domestic animals. By blending artistic storytelling with factual data, the project seeks to provide a creative solution to a significant urban challenge.
