This thesis develops the technical-economic study of a renewable energy backup system using photovoltaic technology for the Faculty of Technical Education for Development (FETD) at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG), in response to the institutional need to ensure operational continuity in laboratories, workshops, and technological classrooms in the event of interruptions to the conventional electricity supply. The technical assessment of the electrical systems determined a total active demand of 107.850 kVA on the 300 kVA transformer bank, operating at 35.9% of its nominal capacity, with asymmetric line currents L1 = 310.2 A, L2 = 170.0 A, and L3 = 382.60 A, showing a phase imbalance of 33.0% that requires priority correction. The sizing of the SGDA resulted in 584 JA Solar monocrystalline modules of 550 Wp, organized into 12 strings, with an installed peak power of 321.2 kWp, a three-phase inverter FIMER PVS-350-TL, and a self-sufficiency capacity of over 6 hours. The simulation in Solarius PV validated an overall system efficiency of 86.6% and an annual energy production of 345,195.1 kWh/year, covering 121.75% of the demand during solar hours. The economic analysis determined a projected Internal Rate of Return of 4.09% in the eighth year, increasing to 14.69% over a 25-year horizon, surpassing the benchmark rates of the Ecuadorian financial market and confirming the competitive and sustainable viability of the investment, framed within Regulation ARCERNNR-008/23.en_US
