dc.descriptionContexto: La ansiedad preoperatoria se presenta por la incertidumbre y la preocupación ante la anestesia y la intervención quirúrgica, afectando la preparación emocional del paciente con colelitiasis. Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de ansiedad preoperatoria en pacientes con diagnóstico de colelitiasis de un hospital de la ciudad de Guayaquil, año 2025. Diseño metodológico: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, prospectivo y de corte transversal. Población: 148 pacientes mayores de 18 años con diagnóstico de colelitiasis atendidos en el área prequirúrgica. Técnica: Encuesta. Instrumentos: Escala de Ansiedad e Información Preoperatoria de Ámsterdam (APAIS) y cuestionario de preguntas. Resultados: El 24% de los pacientes con colelitiasis tenía entre 46 y 55 años, el 64% era de sexo femenino, el 52% presentó sobrepeso, el 76% recibió atención por urgencia quirúrgica y el 80% manifestó sintomatología. Los analgésicos fueron el tratamiento preoperatorio más utilizado, con el 35%, mientras que el 76% no presentó complicaciones. Respecto a la ansiedad, el 52% manifestó mucha inquietud ante la anestesia, el 44% pensó mucho en ella y el 48% necesitó bastante información. En relación con la cirugía, el 36% presentó inquietud regular, el 60% pensó mucho en el procedimiento y el 72% expresó mucha necesidad de información. Estos hallazgos evidenciaron una marcada preocupación emocional durante la preparación inmediata para la colecistectomía. De manera general, predominó un nivel alto de ansiedad preoperatoria. Conclusión: La mayoría de los pacientes presentó ansiedad elevada, relacionada principalmente con la anestesia, la cirugía y la necesidad de información antes del procedimiento.en_US

Objective: To determine the level of preoperative anxiety in patients diagnosed with cholelithiasis at a hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 2025. Methodological design: Quantitative, descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional study. Population: 148 patients over 18 years of age diagnosed with cholelithiasis and seen in the preoperative area. Technique: Survey. Instruments: Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) and questionnaire. Results: 24% of the patients with cholelithiasis were between 46 and 55 years old, 64% were female, 52% were overweight, 76% received emergency surgical care, and 80% reported symptoms. Analgesics were the most frequently used preoperative treatment, at 35%, while 76% of patients experienced no complications. Regarding anxiety, 52% reported significant anxiety about the anesthesia, 44% thought about it frequently, and 48% required considerable information. Concerning the surgery itself, 36% reported moderate anxiety, 60% thought about the procedure extensively, and 72% expressed a strong need for information. These findings revealed marked emotional distress during the immediate preparation for cholecystectomy. Overall, a high level of preoperative anxiety was prevalent. Conclusion: The majority of patients experienced elevated anxiety, primarily related to anesthesia, surgery, and the need for information before the procedure.en_US
