| Resumen : | Context: Adherence to antibiotic treatment helps combat infections and reduce bacterial resistance; however, it can be affected by forgetfulness, insufficient information, mistrust, and lack of family support. Objective: To analyze the level of adherence to antibiotic treatment in patients treated at a health center in the city of Guayaquil. Methodological design: Quantitative, descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional study. Population: 102 patients from Health Center No. 4, Julio Mata Martínez Dispensary, in Guayaquil. Technique: Survey. Instrument: Morisky Medication Adherence Scale and the BIOTICA Self-Report Questionnaire. Results: 36% were between 25 and 32 years old, 67% were female, and 97% resided in urban areas; syphilis was the most frequent pathological process at 63%. Furthermore, 93% considered the appointment hours adequate, 91% were aware of them, and 62% attended weekly. Regarding associated factors, 71% received insufficient information, 71% were unaware of the consequences of incorrect use, and 75% expressed distrust of the person who prescribed the antibiotic. In terms of unintentional adherence, 86% forgot to take their medication, 79% were careless, and 78% forgot to take it with them when leaving home. 47% showed high adherence, 44% medium, and 9% low. Conclusion: High adherence to antibiotic treatment predominated; however, patients with medium and low adherence were also identified. Insufficient information, lack of awareness of the consequences, and distrust were also associated with therapeutic compliance. |
| Descripción : | Contexto: La adherencia al tratamiento antibiótico permite combatir infecciones y disminuir la resistencia bacteriana; sin embargo, puede verse afectada por olvidos, información insuficiente, desconfianza y falta de apoyo familiar. Objetivo: Analizar el nivel de adherencia al tratamiento antibiótico en pacientes atendidos en un centro de salud de la ciudad de Guayaquil. Diseño metodológico: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, prospectivo y de corte transversal. Población: 102 pacientes del Centro de Salud N.º 4 Dispensario Julio Mata Martínez de Guayaquil. Técnica: Encuesta. Instrumento: Escala de Adherencia al Tratamiento Medicamentoso de Morisky y el Self-Report Questionnaire BIOTICA. Resultados: El 36% tenía entre 25 y 32 años, el 67% era de sexo femenino y el 97% residía en áreas urbanas; la sífilis fue el proceso patológico más frecuente con el 63%. Además, el 93% consideró adecuado el horario de atención, el 91% lo conocía y el 62% acudía semanalmente. Respecto a los factores asociados, el 71% recibió información insuficiente, el 71% desconocía las consecuencias del uso incorrecto y el 75% manifestó desconfianza en quien prescribió el antibiótico. En la adherencia no intencional, el 86% olvidaba tomar los medicamentos, el 79% presentó descuido y el 78% olvidaba llevarlos al salir. El 47% presentó adherencia alta, el 44% media y el 9% baja. Conclusión: Predominó la alta adherencia al tratamiento antibiótico; sin embargo, también se identificaron pacientes con adherencia media y baja. Asimismo, la información insuficiente, el desconocimiento de las consecuencias y la desconfianza estuvieron relacionados con el cumplimiento terapéutico. |
