Diseño de una fuente tipográfica a partir del estudio iconográfico de la cultura Manteño - Huancavilca.

Abstract

In the present titling work, a typographic font is designed from the iconographic study of the Manteño-Huancavilca culture. For this purpose, a documentary research is carried out by the gathering of information about the topic of study; in addition a photographic record of the pieces is carr ied out of ceramic with pre-Columbian graphics. Also for this work descriptive research is used through interviews with three experts in archeology and history in order to identify the most representative colors and forms of culture. In addition, each of the objects found in the exhibition hall of the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil and the Anthropological and Contemporary Art Museum (MAAC) reserve is morphologically classified and analyzed using morphological repetition tables, which define the visual signs that appear the most In these objects. Using the design criteria, the graphic elements are reinterpreted and then generated typographic proposals from these visual signs. This project combines graphic design, typographic design and research methodologies resulting in the first typographic font based on the Manteño-Huancavilca iconography, which can be applied in graphic pieces of exhibition around the Manteño-Huancavilca culture.
