Abstract

In the clinical laboratory of the UCSG, located in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, health professionals who are trained there academically, perform the analysis of biological samples to contribute to the research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of students, teachers and workers. The process of reporting results, clinical history per patient, treatment and diagnosis of diseases are not automated, so it is not functional and, to improve this problem, the implementation of a management and control system was proposed in order to response times are optimized and quality of patient care is offered. The research methodology used was qualitative, through an explanatory study, with an inductive method and information gathering techniques such as interview and obse rvation. The gathering of information through the interview to the manager of the clinical laboratory determined the specification of the needs for the development of the system and it was understood that it was indispensable to automate manual processes by designing the corresponding modules; this allowed the system to be implemented, to offer a better service to the end user, which is friendly. Finally, some suggestions were proposed that could be taken into consideration, in case of needing to improve the application or to implement future modules to the system.
