Abstract

Introduction: The document informed consent in the process of dental care is of greater significance due to its function as a legal instrument so it is important to capture the information by the patient. Objective: To evaluate the perception that patients have about the informed consent document. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study, in which the design of surveys consisting of 5 questions addressed to 150 patients of restorative clinic II and III, regardless of when they were attended, was used. Results: About the results, 52% of the patients surveyed said they understood everything about the importance and function of the informed consent, 34% reflected a partial understanding and 14% did not know about the document they signed. Conclusion: According to the results of the study we can conclude that the majority of patients surveyed had the perception of the legality and necessity of the informed consent document.
