Abstract

The increasing incidence of depressive disorders around the world and the high rates of this syndrome reported in female patients, warn about the need to deepend and priorize the timely validation of the symptoms of depression in gravid and its biopsychosocial repercussions in both the mother as in the child, contemplating their environment and development. To justify this problem, the type of study that will be proposed is descriptive and quantitative to meet the general objective of identifying the knowledge of personal health about the detection of signs of depression in pregnant women of Health Center # 12 in the city of Guayaquil. Therefore, this research describes and analyzes the characteristics, the predominant factors and the risk of the disease, including the clinical implications of this condition, the treatment alternatives and the current challenges for an integral psychotherapeutic approach, considering the different aspects that contemplate the care provided by health personnel.
