Abstract

This research is divided into four chapters, where the process, data collection and formulation of proposals are explained for the tourism development plan of San Pedro de Chongón commune, with the purpose of encouraging tourist activity in the tourism sector studied. In chapter one the theories that support this research are presented, such as the theory of sustainable tourism, the theory of resources and capacities and the theory of tourism spaces. In addition, it takes into account reference cases of tourism planning of international destinations that allows to know errors and successes in tourism planning for San Pedro de Chongon Commune. Chapter two focuses on the global analysis of the tourism system currently in San Pedro de Chongon, to identify the strengths of the system, weaknesses, tourism potential and define possible improvements that will adequately encourage tourism in the Commune. Chapter three describes the characteristics of the potential demand, the profile of the visitor and their future preferences for tourism activity within the territory of the Commune. Chapter four presents seven proposals based on covering the shortcomings of the current tourism system of San Pedro de Chongon Commune and the preferences of the potential demand with the objective of fulfilling the goal of converting San Pedro de Chongon community into a tourist space that complements the tourist offer of Guayaquil.
