Description: Parkinson's disease is one of the most common among neurodegenerative diseases, which consists of the degeneration of the substantia nigra, still unknown its exact etiology, but producing chronic disorders at the level of the Central Nervous System and functional capacity and quality of life from the patients. The quality of life of the patients is a subject on which some misgivings are maintained, since Parkinson's disease is associated with a serious impairment in the functional status of the patient and even the caregiver. Parkinson's disease is a type of movement disorder. It occurs when nerve cells do not produce enough of an important chemical in the brain, known as dopamine. It usually starts around the age of 60, but it may appear before and until now a cure for Parkinson's disease has not been discovered.Through this research work, we aim to determine the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's Disease, as well as the depressive symptoms present in them according to their epidemiological characteristics. A higher prevalence was determined in male patients and a peak incidence between 59 and 61 years of age. It is important to emphasize that one of the positive points of this study is that, despite being limited among an age range, it has a good number of patients, so the results are statistically significant. However, because it is limited to a single hospital center, it does not reflect the reality of patients nationwide. Regarding the prevalence of depressive symptoms, the main factors determined by patients are anhedonia, sleep disorders and decreased libido, present in at least 1 in two cases each. In the same way, it was reported by the study published by the Journal Neurology, in which these symptoms were established as the predominant ones of psychiatric and depressive characteristics.
