Teatro - Biblioteca Municipal Bahía de Caráquez.

Abstract

The current document develops the project “Municipal Theatre - LIbrary for Bahía de Caráquez”. The project aims to set back spaces for culture and education to the city through an architectural element which allows such processes. The plot is located where the former theatre was (which was demolished after beign affected by the earthquake) in the historical part of the city. In the surroundings the commerce is the main activity, which creates a constant movement of people. This social - urban behavior affects directly the project, so that it becomes a place of urban interaction, which leads the neighbors to meet. The building then presents a duality in its function, serving locals and foreingers, letting the flow of people pass trough it and generating random encounters which generates exchanges of ideas and experiences that improves the current situation of the local community.
