Percepciones de las familias en relación a la enfermedad mental y dinámica familiar. Casos de pacientes de un centro psiquiátrico de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The present work is a qualitative study on "The perceptions of families against mental illness and family dynamics. Cases of patients of a Psychiatric Center of the City of Guayaquil ". The sampling carried out in this work was of a "non-probabilistic by convenience" type because not all the population had the same probability of being chosen, given that, for the purposes of carrying out this research, several psychiatric diagnoses were needed, that they respond to different mental pathologies, in order to visualize the experience lived by the families of these patients, and their reactions and / or ways of confronting them. In order to gather information, the in-depth interview technique was applied to six families, with the purpose of revealing their experiences around their lives, both inside the system and outside. It should be noted that a data collection technique was applied, first, by the study approach; second, due to the complexity of the problem and third, because of the context in which it is located. With this investigation, the family's feelings were known, the meaning that this gives to their lives, and to have a member of their family with a mental illness, likewise, the presence and nonexistence were identified (in some families) of support networks.
