Prevalencia de dolor lumbar en los pacientes atendidos en el área de fisiatría del Hospital Básico IESS de Durán durante el año 2017.

Abstract

Low back pain is pain that arises in the lower part of the spine and radiates the waist. It is related to a clinical condition of variable duration whose intensity will be depending on the postures, work activities or physical activity. The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of low back pain in patients who attended the area of physics of the Basic IESS Hospital of Durán during the year 2017. It had a quantitative approach, so a data collection was used by means of the clinical histories and that through data collection we try to test the hypothesis based on the numerical measurement and statistical analysis. The results show that 2,324 patients have musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, being 1624 with lumbar pain or lumbago, 500 with cervicalgia and 200 with back pain; back pain of mechanical type in 94% and non-mechanical in 7%, of which 49% correspond to the male gender and 51% to the female gender, with predominant ages of <45 and <65 years. In conclusion, a high prevalence of patients with low back pain attended in the area of Physiatry during the year 2017 was evidenced.
