Prevalencia de dermatofitos en canis lupus familiaris que asisten a la consulta en la clínica veterinaria ¨COLA¨ ubicada en el cantón Guayaquil.

Abstract

In Guayaquil, the following study was carried out, in order to determine the prevalence of Dermatophytes in Canis lupus familiaris that attended the consultation in the veterinary clinic "COLA". They were diagnosed by means of laboratory techniques: trichogram. In order to observe the samples under an optical microscope with a 40x lens, 10% KOH reagent and Diff quick stain were used. Its specific objective was to relate the presence of Dermatophytes with the variables of age, sex, race according to your hair type, frequency of bath and product used for bathing. The study was carried out in a total of 100 patients: in which a sample of hair was taken from the alopecic areas they presented. The results were: 64 % positive to Dermatophytes. The age range with the highest prevalence was 0 to 3 years with 48 % positive. According to the type of hair, with 48 % positive it was obtained by short hair. According to the hygiene habits, those who did not bathe obtained 43 % positive and 8 % with respect to the type of product used for the bath that affects the pH and the natural flora of the dog's skin.
