Correlación entre valores de creatinina sérica y el peso en perros con buena condición corporal en la “Clínica Veterinaria Zamora” en la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

In the city of Guayaquil in the facilities of the Zamora Veterinary Clinic, an investigation was conducted from June to August 2018 to establish the correlation of serum creatinine with weight in dogs with good body condition. Creatinine was determined using the Jaffé technique and the body condition was quantified with the body condition index table with ranges from 1 to 5. The dogs selected for the present study were those that met the following parameters: ages from 2 to 8 years, ideal body condition (3), who have no history of kidney disease and are free of any pharmacological treatment at that time. The research was conducted with a total of 100 dogs; the variables evaluated were creatinine, race, sex and weight ordered in 3 groups using the American Kennel Club classification were: class 1 (1-10 kg), class 2 (11-25 kg) and class 3 (greater than 25 kg). To determine their relationship, the ANOVA test was used: they were highly significant in the correlation of creatinine with weight, race and sex. This research demonstrates the difference in serum creatinine values in each class (body weight) for future referrals.
