La inversión pública en salud y su incidencia en el crecimiento de las economías del subdesarrollo. Caso Ecuador. Período 2000- 2016.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of public investment in health on the growth of the underdeveloped economies, the choice of subject was given with the intention of verifying if this type of investment affects and causes a significant impact in a positive or negative way on the economic growth and, in turn, if health investment leads to the improvement of the country's development. To explain this, information provided by a large number of researches referring to the subject of study was collected, which allowed identifying the variables to be used during the development of this work, also taking into account the legal backing by the laws and regulations in force in Ecuador. Investment in health influences various economic sectors, driving towards the development of the educational, labor and productive environment. This investment has also had a growing trend over the years, proving that the State considers this sector very important for the development and wellness of the country. Using statistical techniques such as the Granger Causality test, the DickeyFuller Test and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, led to determine that public investment in health does have a significant impact, but with a negative effect on Ecuador's economic growth. However, in the long term this investment would tend to have positive effects on the Ecuadorian economy.
