Abstract

The Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, located in the Province of Guayas, in its constant search for the optimization of its facilities, observed that there is an urgent need to have an academic building or lecture hall that contributes to the substantial improvement of the conditions of work and quality of life of the university community. In this document the development of the preliminary draft “Academic Services Building” for the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil is compiled, which includes the critical analysis, the established choices in front of the conditioning factors, found problems, design criteria and concludes with the architectural proposal that seeks to solve the needs of the university campus. In context, this proposal seeks to provide flexible spaces, which house different activities: academic, extracurricular and / or recreational; as well as, that these spaces are a place of contemplation, where cultural and intellectual development are present, that resolve and satisfy the need for a lack of public spaces and of being, as these areas will increase the social character and comfort of the campus.
