Valoración del estado nutricional en pacientes hospitalizados con enfermedades gastrointestinales de 30 a 60 años en el “Hospital del día Virgen del Carmen” de la ciudad de Machala desde noviembre 2018 hasta febrero 2019.

Abstract

The undernourishment is defined as the set of manifestations observed in biochemical and anthropometric alterations, these are caused by low intake, deficiency or excessive consumption of macro and micronutrients. The prevalence of undernourishment plays a very important role in the early recovery of the patient hospitalized suffered some case of malnutrition in gastrointestinal diseases. The objective of this investigation is to determine the nutritional status of patients between 30 and 60 years, hospitalized because of gastrointestinal sickness in the “Hospital del día Virgen del Carmen”. The study period is a transversal cut, starting from November 2018 until February 2019. The type of research is descriptive with a quantitative approach because it describes the characteristics and evolution of the nutritional status of patients according to the variables given by the mini nutritional assessment test like: age, gender, weight, height, corporal mass index, middle arm perimeter and calve. Among the main conclusions under the context and object of study is determining that 53% of hospitalized patients were at risk of undernourishment, it was also determined that the older the older patient is, the greater the risk of undernourishment that the older the patient is, the greater the risk of suffering from malnutrition, there is also a greater predisposition of the female gender to suffer this condition. As an additional contribution, a model was econometrically modeled to predict the nutritional status of the patient based on the aforementioned variables.
