Revisión, análisis, comentarios y modificaciones recomendadas para el capítulo de acero (NEC-SE-AC) de la Norma Ecuatoriana de la Construcción (NEC-15).

Abstract

The present degree work reviews and analyzes the steel chapter of the NEC- 15 (NEC-SE-AC) in order to recommend changes in a way that is clearer and easier to use, without modifying the specifications and formulas contained. It was necessary to analyze the references specified in chapter NEC-SE-AC of the NEC-15 in order to know the origin of the information contained in this document. Of the 13 documents referenced by the standard, 2 of them are previous versions of the same document, and another 2 were not used. This chapter of the NEC-15 (NEC-SE-AC) has 98 equations, which are based on foreign standards such as AISC 341, AISC 358 and AISC 360. On the other hand, there are two factors that take a reference from a document Ecuadorian. Once the structure of the NEC-SE-AC was reviewed and evaluated, it could be determined that there were defects in its format such as Sub-chapters without numbering, errors in the writing and mixing of comments with specifications. These findings led to propose a more detailed analysis of the defects of the steel chapter, propose recommendations for the inclusion of new information in the case of future revisions of the standard and, together with this, recommend a restructuring, order, and sequence of the information that eliminates the defects found.
