Abstract

This study reveals the importance of breast milk in nutrition during the first years of life; it is the key for weight and psychomotor development. Objective: To determine the relationship between breastfeeding and its impact on the weight and psychomotor development of children from 1 to 3 years of age who attend Caritas Alegres # 115 during the period from January to March 2019. It was determined that the majority of children they have a normal weight development and represent 62% of the sample investigated; 6% have mild to moderate malnutrition, 16% are overweight and another 16% are obese. Likewise, 93% of preschoolers present normal psychomotor development, 6% present a doubtful result and only 1% of preschoolers show delay.
