Titre: Prevalencia de insuficiencia venosa periférica en pacientes con sobrepeso y obesidad entre los 45 y 65 años que son atendidos en el servicio de cirugía vascular del Hospital General Guasmo Sur de la ciudad de Guayaquil en el periodo 2018 – 2019.

Résumé: Introduction: Peripheral venous insufficiency is a set of anomalies that affects the venous valves. Those who are frequently affected is the population that is over 40 years old, harming their quality of life, in our country it is of high morbidity with physical, psychological affectation, Interfering with the life of the individual. Objective: To determine the prevalence of peripheral venous insufficiency in patients with a body mass index higher than 25, between 45 and 65 years of age who attend the vascular surgery service at the Guasmo Sur General Hospital. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, retrospective, transversal study. The sample consisted of 641 patients between the ages of 45 and 65 years, with a body mass index greater than 25, who attended the vascular surgery service. Results: Of 641 patients, 464 had clinical signs of peripheral venous insufficiency, the prevalence it is 72.38%, 82.3% (382) were female and 17.7% (82) male. The age between 55 to 59 corresponds to 31.68% (147). 64.4% did not perform physical activity regularly. 55.6% (258) have a family history. According to the CEAP (Clinical) scale, the highest frequency is stage II, 238 patients (51.29%). Conclusions: The most affected population is female. The age group most affected by the signs and symptoms of peripheral venous insufficiency is that which comprises patients between 55 and 59 years of age. Signs of peripheral venous insufficiency occur in greater numbers in patients who do not perform any type of physical activity regularly. There is a greater number of patients with a family history of peripheral venous insufficiency. It occurs more frequently in overweight patients (Body Mass Index 25-29.5). The most frequent degree of clinical severity according to the CEAP (Clinical Classification) scale is grade II.
Description: Introducción: La insuficiencia venosa periférica es un conjunto de anomalías que afecta a las válvulas venosas. Quienes se ven frecuentemente afectados es la población que tiene más de 40 años, perjudicando su calidad de vida, en nuestro país es de elevada morbilidad con afectación física, psicológica llegando a interferir con la vida del individuo. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de insuficiencia venosa periférica en pacientes con índice de masa corporal superior a 25, entre los 45 y 65 años que acuden al servicio de cirugía vascular en el Hospital General Guasmo Sur. Metodología: Estudio de tipo observacional, descriptivo, retrospectivo, transversal. La muestra está constituida por 641 pacientes entre las edades de 45 a 65 años, con un índice de masa corporal superior a 25, que acudieron al servicio de cirugía vascular Resultados: De 641 pacientes, 464 presentaban signos clínicos de insuficiencia venosa periférica, la prevalencia es del 72.38%; 82.3% (382) eran de sexo femenino y 17.7% (82) del sexo masculino. La edad entre los 55 a 59 corresponde 31.68% (147). 64.4% no realizaban actividad física con regularidad. El 55.6% (258) poseen un antecedente familiar. Según la escala CEAP (Clínica) la mayor frecuencia se encuentra en estadio II 51.29% de los pacientes (238). Conclusiones: La población más afectada es del sexo femenino. El grupo etario más afectado por los signos y síntomas de la insuficiencia venosa periférica es el que comprende a los pacientes entre los 55 y 59 años. Los signos de insuficiencia venosa periférica se presentan en mayor cantidad en pacientes que no realizan ningún tipo de actividad física con regularidad. Existe un mayor número de pacientes con historia familiar de Insuficiencia venosa periférica. Se presenta con más frecuencia en pacientes con sobrepeso (Índice de masa corporal 25-29.5). El grado de severidad clínica más frecuente según la escala CEAP (Clasificación clínica), es el grado II.
