Implementación de prácticas ambientales sostenibles en empresas ecuatorianas y su impacto económico.

Abstract

We are the first generation that has felt the effects of climate change and perhaps the last one that has the capacity to do something about it. High exposure to natural disasters has increased the vulnerability of some key sectors of the economy such as agriculture, water resources and tourism. The loss of plant species due to the alteration or replacement of plant formations would cause the extinction of animal species due to the lack of ecosystem structures that would prevent the segregation of habitats. These and other problems associated with climate change have become priority issues for the Ecuadorian government. In 2009, adaptation and mitigation of climate change was declared a State Policy. The Ecuadorian constitution in force since October 2008, assigns special and preferential treatment to the environment and its legal protection, making it significantly sensitive; Even within the code of criminal procedures, crimes against the environment and cultural heritage are contemplated. A comprehensive training in finance, not only seeks economic development, focuses on the ability to generate wealth over time. We cannot be indolent before the destruction of our planet because of pursuing a lucrative end. The objective of this project is to analyze how an entity would benefit economically from the implementation of eco-efficiency strategies including carbon neutrality. Being eco-efficient does not necessarily mean being more expensive, on the contrary, it is a process that optimizes resources and reduces waste. However, it continues to be related to spending causing resistance in companies towards its implementation despite generating a saving of resources This demonstrates the need to evaluate how the adoption of these practices would have an economic impact on the entities, determining if there is indeed a cost savings for efficiency that justifies the investment and therefore encourages implementation.
