Abstract

This research aims to analyze the growth of thirty companies in Guayaquil that belong to electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector in the period 2008 to 2018 under the approach of the sustainable growth model proposed by Jean Paul Sallenave. The theoretical framework tells us that it is standard for companies to have as their main objective to maximize their growth through increased sales. However, this will not generally add value to the company since it is important to emphasize the financial statements and profitability of the company. Therefore, the theory of sustainable growth exists as a useful tool for companies as an indicator of expansion in which companies can finance themselves without consuming all the financial resources. The research is qualitative, quantitative and descriptive, because it tries to describe and analyze the percentage of growth of each company involved in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector; followed by this we will separate the companies that grow above, below or equal to the growth of their economic activity and analyze the reason for this. Surveys will be carried out in order to detect what measures companies are taking to strengthen their growth and a principal component analysis will be carried out to see if it is possible to adequately represent this information with a smaller number of variables.
