Abstract

Reminiscencias is a documentary that seeks to fight oblivion and ignorance while paying a tribute and acknowledgement to Pedro Pablo Gómez, a town that possesses an outstanding history, and is located in the canton of Jipijapa, province of Manabi. This production is a sample of the scope and magnitude that an audiovisual production can achieve, addressing the experiences, memories and anecdotes of past events. Under the modality of an expository documentary, the events surrounding the affluence and prosperity that prevailed in the canton during the 50s and 60s were investigated. Prior research on the subject provided relevant data for the development of the project and the interaction with social actors; without attempting to manipulate or bias the information. Within the range of possibilities available in postproduction, part of what is presented in the project are the testimonies, which with concealed longing reveal the power of audiovisual communication, bringing home memories, promoting feelings, calling for reflection and questioning the facts of what once was and today is Pedro Pablo Gómez.
