Abstract

The objective of this work was to create two musical compositions of sound fiction using the sound resources selected by the analysis of two “ocarinas” and a shell necklace, musical instruments of the Guangala culture, found in the province of Santa Elena. The research approach is qualitative and the instruments applied were: analysis of books, scientific articles, videos, interviews and phonetic testimonies. This work serves as a starting point for the following research, projects and musical proposals; with the desire also to encourage more exploration of the coastal region and more about the richness of the sounds that are hidden in every corner of these forgotten towns. "Destierro" and "Despierta" are two compositions, the result of the application of the resources specified from the analysis of the musical instruments previously affected, in an innovative proposal where sound fiction plays an important role due to the null record of interpretation of the rescued instruments; This fiction is re-interpreted and linked within contemporary music, establishing a connection between the past and the present.
