Precisión diagnóstica de los criterios de Centor en faringoamigdalitis aplicados en niños >4 años atendidos en el servicio de pediatría del Hospital General IESS Milagro Dr. Federico Bolaños Moreira en el período mayo 2019-febrero 2020.

Abstract

The present research work had the general objective of analyzing the diagnostic precision of the Centor criteria in pharyngotonsillitis applied in children> 4 years of age attended in the pediatric service of the IESS Milagro Dr. Federico Bolaños Moreira General Hospital in the period May 2019-February 2020 This was carried out by means of case-control studies of 379 children> 4 years of age attended in the pediatric and otorhinolaryngological outpatient service of the hospital under study. The results showed a prevalence in boys of 5 and 6 years of male sex. Centor's criteria proved to be a rapid diagnostic tool. The sensitivity of the criterion with respect to the culture sample was 99.72%, specificity 81.82%, positive predictive value 99.46%, negative predictive value 90.00%, positive probability ratio 5.49, negative probability ratio 0.0034, accuracy index 99.21% and Youden Index 81.54%. It is concluded that there is a high diagnostic precision of the Centor criteria in pharyngotonsillitis in children older than 4 years.
