Sobrecarga de los cuidadores informales de pacientes con cáncer, atendidos en un hospital de la ciudad de Guayaquil, año 2019.

Abstract

The overload presented by the main caregiver of the cancer patient is associated between the emotional responses and postures facing the care experience, perceiving alterations in different directions of the domestic contour and of the caregivers' well-being; during the span of illness. Objective: To establish the Overload of informal caregivers of cancer patients, treated in a hospital in the city of Guayaquil, 2019/2020. Methodology Design: Descriptive, Quantitative, prospective, transversal Population: 100 informal caregivers. Technique: survey. Instrument: questionnaire and Zarit test; Results: It was evident that the majority of informal caregivers are women, 73%, that 24% are informal caregivers of 48 years and older, 39% have secondary education, 34% are unmarried, and 33% have been caring for their family of 1 to 3 years, 44% are children of cancer patients, 28% have breast and cervical cancer. Through the Zarit test, applied in the informal caregivers, the study participants, it was detected that 68%, concluded, that a larger group of caregivers presents an intense overload, which generates physical, emotional, economic and social wear, during the care time; influencing their social activities, their rest and their general well-being.
