Manejo de complicaciones en cirugía bucal : una revisión sistemática.

Abstract

Introduction: Complications in oral surgery supose great difficulty for the patient and for the dentist, it is important to be able to recognize each one of them and to have a correct management to improve the quality of the patient's recovery. Objective: the objective of this study was to investigate the most important complications in oral surgery, as well as to describe the clinical and radiographic signs in order to be able to differentiate them and describe their respective treatments. Materials and methods: A systematic review was carried out in which 49 scientific articles were included that detail the complications that were to be evaluated. This research was carried out using as support material the access of the UCSG virtual library and other reliable sources and viable as search engines: Pubmed, Cochrane library, etc. Results: the most prevalent complication was alveolitis with 4.4% also the surgical time directly influences the percentage of complications, the clinical and radiographic signs are very important to be able to differentiate each complication, the female gender presented a greater number of complications and the treatments for each complication can be grouped into surgical and pharmacological therapy. Conclusions: A correct technique and surgical time must be managed to minimize complications in oral surgery, knowledge of the signs of each complication and the different treatments will help to improve the quality of the patient's recovery.
