Educación de las madres sobre el programa de Tamizaje Metabólico Neonatal en neonatos que acuden a un centro de salud de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The neonatal metabolic screening program is a program included in the MSP - Ministry of Public Health in order to prevent, in a pertinent way, the innate metabolism diseases that affect neonates, causing intellectual disability and early death. The objective of this work is to establish the education that mothers have about the Neonatal Screening Program in neonates who attend a Health Center in the city of Guayaquil. Methodology: it has a descriptive, quantitative, prospective level with a cross-sectional design. Technique: Survey. Instrument: Questionnaire. The population consisted of 60 mothers who attended the medical consultation for neonatal screening. Results: The age of the mothers was observed to be under 25 years 58%, with a high school degree 55%, of which 100% of this population reside in a rural area, with a married marital status 37% and an unemployed occupation 63%. Based on knowledge they refer that the test allows detecting disability and early death 68% in the newborn, they consider that the use of gloves 90%, alcohol 97%, sterile lancet 100%, and to carry out the test, they consider that the use of biosafety standards must be applied and there must be adequate cleaning and disinfection. In conclusion, a guide on the Metabolic Screening test that is directed and freely accessible to mothers should be developed and implemented.
