Prevalencia de abdomen agudo obstructivo por causas tumorales en pacientes atendidos del Hospital General Guasmo Sur 2017 - 2019.

Abstract

The acute obstructive or occlusive abdomen is defined as the impediment of the normal exit of the intestinal contents that can present in a complete and continuous way in any segment of the small or large intestine. The objective is to analyze the prevalence of acute obstructive abdomen due to tumor causes in patients treated at the Guasmo Sur General Hospital of the city of Guayaquil, in the years 2017-2019. The research design is observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, and analytical. In the 3 years of study, 161 patients with a diagnosis of acute obstructive abdomen due to tumor causes were identified, with a prevalence of 16%, and the mean age is 49.3 years, being the age group most affected in patients among the 40-49 years, it could be shown that over the 3 years there was a higher prevalence in 2019 with 41% compared to 2018 with 26% and 2017 with 33%, in relation to the sex of the patients There was a 1: 1 relationship and in relation to the clinical characteristics, the most frequent was abdominal pain with 93%, the most used imaging test was abdominal radiography with 93%. It was possible to conclude that the obstructive abdomen is more common in patients who are bordering the fifth decade of life, it was identified that the main cause is of non-mechanical origin, followed by hernias, tumors, fecalomas and adhesions, the prevalence during the years 2017 to 2019 was on the rise with 33%, 26% and 41% respectively; the prevalence of obstructive abdomen due to tumor causes was 16%, the ratio between men and women is 1:1; the predominant clinical manifestation was abdominal pain, continued by abdominal distention and diarrhea; radiography was the most widely used imaging study.
