La intervención social con adultos mayores institucionalizados durante el periodo de confinamiento por la pandemia de Covid-19 en un hogar de AM del cantón Lago Agrio - Sucumbios.

Abstract

The present research aims to "analyze how social intervention was developed with institutionalized older adults in a home in the Lago Agrio canton during confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic" for the study, the qualitative research method was applied, since It started from knowing the opinions and experiences of the technical team that worked during the confinement period. For the analysis, theoretical contributions with an ecological approach and the regulatory framework of Ecuador were used. The older adult population is the most vulnerable to the virus and those who remain institutionalized in public or private homes have experienced drastic changes. Through this study we were able to know that the elderly and the technical team suffered different conditions related to their biopsychosocial state, which had to be treated and in whose process the forms of intervention suffered several modifications due to confinement, which is why the methodological process that was applied had several limitations. The role of each member of the technical team was essential to overcome the difficulties that arose and the Social Work area had an outstanding contribution to the intervention process for institutionalized older adults. From the objectives set out in this research we can express that older adults suffered abandonment by their relatives and distancing from their caregivers themselves affected their biopsychosocial state and due to the restriction and biosecurity measures different actions were carried out in order to maintain the operational process to guarantee the quality of life of the elderly.
