Encuesta sobre el uso de la tecnología digital CAD-CAM a dentistas del Ecuador.

Abstract

There is a lack of information about the use of CAD-CAM technology in Ecuadorian dental centers, that is the reason why the article seeks to validate the hypothesis that dentists in Ecuador do not use CAD-CAM procedures. Objective: To identify the reasons why is or is not applied CAD-CAM technology by Ecuadorian dentistry professionals. Materials and methods: The study covers a descriptive analysis through the use of 1.230 surveys to Ecuadorian dentists from different provinces. This survey contains three sections that searched to determine the dentist demographic profile, their knowledge and use or no of CAD-CAM technology, and further, to identify the reasons why they do not use it. Additionally, it was used statistical analysis in order to collect data. Results: The total number of answers obtained were 263. The majority of respondents have no experience with CAD-CAM technology, this is primarily due to high costs and lack of technological knowledge. Nevertheless, the ones who have applied this technology specify that it offer productivity improvements. Conclusions: The majority of the surveyed indicated that they do not use CAD-CAM technology in their workflow, nevertheless, a higher proportion indicated that they are highly interested on it, especially because the role it has been acquiring and will acquires in the future of dentistry.
