Abstract

The present investigation entitled, "Family Functionality in the different family typologies in students of the fifth year of Basic Education in the context of COVID-19 of a Private Educational Institution of the Piñas canton", is aimed at characterizing the functionality offered by families in In the context of COVID- 19, in its different family typologies, the research seeks to understand how this paranormative crisis modified family dynamics and in turn strengthen those family relationships with each of the members of the family nucleus. The research has a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative) of an applied type and with a descriptive level, with a sample made up of 37 families of fifthyear students of Basic General Education of a Private Educational Institution of the Piñas canton, for data collection Research instruments such as the Family Functioning Questionnaire (FF - SIL) and the in-depth interview were used, which allow the development of the research. A description of the data obtained in the application of the aforementioned research instruments is given, to determine the characteristics of family functionality in the different family typologies. The results of the research showed that the family functionality found in the nuclear, single-parent, extended and reconstructed typologies, is functional, moderately functional, dysfunctional and severely dysfunctional in the families of the students of the fifth year of Basic General education of a Private Educational Institution. from the Piñas canton.
