Diseño de fuente tipográfica decorativa a partir de las formas de los figurines de la cultura Valdivia como herramienta de difusión cultural.

Abstract

In this degree work, it is proposed to design typography based on the shapes of the figurines of the Valdivia culture, exactly the most representative features of it. A documentary investigation is carried out, where the material is compiled from catalogs of the archeology reserve of the Anthropological and Contemporary Art Museum such as “Tocados y Ritualidad en la Figurina Valdivia”, among others. Descriptive research with a qualitative approach was also carried out where expert designers in the area of abstraction of pre-Columbian cultures, typography, and the Valdivia culture were interviewed. A classification is created from the shapes of the figurines and their features, to later vectorize them and reaffirm the graphic with abstraction. Based on the proposed design criteria, the typographic proposals are made and analyzed with experts. This project wishes to obtain adaptable and applicable typography, with the aim that the graphics create an impact and motivate us to learn more about the cultures of our Country.
