Abstract

This document contains the architectonic process of the Craft Market (Mercado Artesanal) of Guayaquil city. The market, with its public space, aims to boost and complement the pedestrianization of the Panama street, thus contributing to both the urban quality and image of the city, and encouraging the use of public spaces. Thanks to its location, this project seeks to subtly merge within the surrounding environment. Therefor, it’s a priority to maintain the existing greenery, and facilitate connections between the market, the two public squares, and the pedestrianization projects, in order to permanently connect such places.
